Frustrated with traditional weekly therapy?
Therapy is evolving.
Intensives are the new way forward: A client-first therapy experience that accelerates healing and gives you results in days— not months or years.
What is Therapy Intensives
Anything longer than a 50-minute session is considered an intensive. Typically, the intensive sessions I offer are two to three hours long. Depending on your needs and goals, we may schedule more than one session in a day, or back-to-back sessions on consecutive days. This allows us to do deep and effective work in a short amount of time, which ultimately saves you money and helps you achieve your goals quicker and with less suffering.
A major advantage of intensives is how they eliminate the need to spend time catching up on what’s happened since your last session, or summarizing and closing out before you’ve fully worked through an issue, and “putting a pin in it” until next week. This leaves more time to focus on resolving core issues, giving you the safety to go deeper while knowing you have abundant time for processing and integration.
An intensive is an alternative to weekly therapy. Instead of meeting weekly or biweekly for a standard 50-minute session and spending months working toward therapy goals, engaging in a therapy intensive allows you to consolidate the same amount of treatment into a matter of days. Without the stops and starts of brief sessions, and without the disruption of dealing with the ups and downs of everyday life, you can make rapid progress in concentrated, extended therapy sessions, using modalities like EMDR, psychedelics, or equine therapy.
Packages & Fees
Fees are based on your needs and program design. Intensives are typically $400-$500 per hour, and may be eligible for partial reimbursement using out-of-network insurance benefits (please see FAQ Page [hyperlink] for more information on using insurance). All fees will be communicated ahead of time in accordance with the No Surprises Act.

FAQs

Intensives always begin with an intake, where you’ll have a chance to share your history, set intentions, learn about the modality you’ve chosen (such as EMDR, KAP, or equine therapy), and establish clear goals. During the intensive itself, we’ll take breaks whenever necessary, and I’ll be careful to attune to your needs and go at a pace that feels good for you.
Many people say intensives feel like a personal retreat, a chance to step away from the hustle and bustle of normal life, experience the undivided attention of a skilled and compassionate guide, delve deep into core material, and walk away transformed. There is no sense of hurry during an intensive. Extended sessions allow us to take our time on processing, and work through issues all the way to resolution instead of leaving important threads loose for a week. Because of this personal retreat vibe, I usually recommend that you leave your entire day open, to allow yourself to focus on relaxing activities or self-care as your brain integrates the therapy experience.

Yes. Intensives can be a powerful adjunct to traditional therapy, especially if you are feeling stuck, want to try a new modality that your regular therapist doesn’t offer, or would benefit from the extended, deep focus of the intensive format. If you are already seeing a therapist, I may ask for a release of information so I can work closely with your existing therapist, to make sure you get maximum benefit from your intensive experience.

I offer in-person therapy intensives at my office in the North Suburban Chicago area. While I can offer online therapy intensives to clients anywhere in the state of Illinois, equine therapy intensives and ___ will always take place in-person. (if there are any other types of intensives you only offer in-person)

That depends. Many clients are able to fully resolve single issues during the course of one intensive. If you have a complex trauma history or extensive therapeutic needs, you may benefit from scheduling monthly, bimonthly, or quarterly intensives until you’ve achieved the progress you want. Some clients benefit from taking their intensive experience to a regular therapist and deepening their integration through ongoing processing as they apply new insights and changes to their lives. Everyone’s experience is different. I’m happy to discuss your unique situation and provide further insight in a free consultation; reach out to schedule. [hyperlink]

Research shows that intensives are highly effective in treating trauma, and may be the best fit for some clients. Since intensives are a newer adaptation of therapy, there is more research left to be done on other presenting issues. Anecdotally, I can say my experience has been that intensives are the most powerful and transformative way I have ever offered therapy, and I believe in them wholeheartedly. You’ve forgotten what your life was supposed to be about —
but you’re pretty sure it wasn’t this. You feel like you can’t breathe. You’d give anything to find some rest, but the pressure of responsibilities on the outside and perfectionism on the inside won’t let up.
